<p>This way at least you know what the SEO company is talking about when they make the sales pitch.</p>
<p>Personally, I noticed that the shady ones are often hiding behind geek lingo trying to paint you in a corner by throwing these words at you, thus proving that they know what they are talking about.</p>
<p>You can cut that conversation short and find out how credible and professional they are by asking 5 little questions. Here they are:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>What kind of results should you be able to see and how long will it take to get there?</strong></li>
<li><strong>What experience do you have in my industry and how long have you been doing this?</strong></li>
<li><strong>Show/send me examples of your previous work and success stories. Can I contact some of these people?</strong></li>
<li><strong>Do you follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines?</strong></li>
<li><strong>What other marketing services do you offer besides SEO?</strong></li>
</ol>
<p>Just keep this list by your phone and take notes while they answer these questions. I’m sure you are a pretty seasoned business individual so you should be able to spot the shady ones right away. <p>Reciprocal linking means forming partnerships with other sites who place a link from their web pages to yours. You give them a similar link in return.When you look for people to swap links with, make sure that you don’t reduce the quality or content of your own site.You don’t want users to click straight through without reading your content; you want them to buy firstOne way to stop them from running away too quickly is to create a “Resources Page” and link to that page from your homepage.</p>
<p>This doesn’t take away from the content on your homepage and the links are just one click away rather than being buried deep within the site, giving value to your partners.<br />

<p><em><em>But if you happen to have a very long URL for your web site (which I would not recommend unless they are main keywords for your website; and even in that case I would keep it to 2 or 3 words separated by a “dash”) I bet those 140 characters are not merely enough for a short and sweet message you want to put out there.</em></em></p>

What about promoting a particular page from your site? I mean, look at this monster: “http://www.whateveryourbusinessnameisandacoupleofkeywords.com/products/go.php?r=31&amp;i=l4?. That in itself eats up more than half your Twitter word allowance.</p>
<p><strong>People will more readily click on your links if they aren’t long and scary. In fact they might find them quite cute…well – sometimes… </strong></p>
<p>So what to do? Answer – <strong>shorten your URL link for your site</strong>. There are plenty of sites where you can do this at a drop of a hat.</p>

<h3>In short, here are the rules:</h3>
<ol>
<li>Every page should have a title and each should be different</li>
<li>The tile should contain no more than 65 characters (including spaces)</li>
<li>The title should start with the name of your business</li>
<li>The title should incorporate a CTA (Call To Action), even a provocative statement (usually a verb-noun combination)</li>
<li>Each page should contain and/or reflect the same keywords used in the iys title</li>
</ol>
<p>And there you have it. 5 easy rules you should abide by and make it easy for Google to find your site, so you can find it in Google&#8217;s first page.</p>

<p>It’s called “Image Optimization” and is crucial in getting a big BANG for the&#8230;BLOG.</p>
<p>So, do you need some fancy coding? No – not really. You just have to keep in mind 5 elements the Google Search engine is looking for:</p>
<ol>
<li>An alt attribute that describes the content of the image (don&#8217;t leave home without it!)</li>
<li>A title attribute &#8211; meaning text that will be displayed when you move the mouse over the image</li>
<li>A src attribute – indicating the location of the image</li>
<li>A width declaration – meaning the width of the image (in pixels)</li>
<li>A height declaration &#8211; meaning the height of the image (in pixels)</li>
</ol>
<p>That’s it! If you are running a WordPress theme &#8211; even better. When adding the image to your media category in the WordPress dashboard, you can specify the following elements:,/p&gt;</p>
<ul>
<li>Title</li>
<li>Caption</li>
<li>Description</li>
<li>File URL</li>
</ul>
<p>Do this now! You will probably have to go back to your images and start reloading them with descriptions, title, etc. Image optimization produces extremely tangible results and you will see your traffic spike almost instantly.</p>
<p>If you have the time and patience do it for everyone of your articles. If not, take in consideration at least the ones which best promote the theme of your blog.</p>

<p>Make sure the picture is describing the essence of the article itself. If they are not related, Google will probably slap your wrist for tricking it and move on without paying any attention to your article.</p></blockquote>
